"I have always chosen my
shoes by color and style. Comfort and the way the shoe fit never entered into
my decision of whether to buy or not. That all changed on October 29th
2006 when I fell 40 ft in downtown St. Louis celebrating with the Cardinals
after the World Series. I was bumped by another fan and fell 40 ft
straight down and landed flatfooted on the Metro Link train tracks. I
broke both ankles, my right knee, and two vertebrae in my back. I endured
eight hours of surgery on my ankles and knee and was non-weight bearing for six
weeks. The tenth week after surgery I returned to work where I am a
speech Pathologist in an outpatient rehab facility. The floors are all
tile and I walk the facility all day long. The first two days back to
